Our Mission.jpg

We are a sustainable family farmstead dedicated to restoring biodiversity and natural balance. It is our mission to provide an educational environment that inspires others to make choices in favor of sustainability and environmental regeneration no matter how small or large. We hope this focus on education will provoke positive change on a larger scale and motivate a change in the way we use our resources.

Biodiversity is the key indicator of the health of a system. When biodiversity is maximized, ecosystems thrive, allowing both micro- and macro-organisms to adapt in the wake of adversity. Biodiversity on a farm begins and ends with the soil. A rich, complex soil microenvironment cultivates both vegetation and fungi, which provides an abundance of nutrition for grazing consumers. The consumers in turn replenish and further diversify the soil microenvironment.

This cyclical process increases water absorption and potentiates the available abundance for all within the ecosystem. Encouraging the reproduction of a single aspect of this complex network throws off the balance, so it is crucial to promote the greatest degree of heterogeneity possible.

"This is the real secret of life — to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now. And instead of calling it work, realize it is play.”

- Alan W. Watts
